Air Curtain Comparison Guide

What are they?

Air curtains are used to distribute a stream of air that is directed across a door or opening. This stream of air helps to separate different environments without the inconvenience of a physical door or barrier. This allows for easier access between areas while maintaining the current temperature. Keeping heated or cooled air in its desired environment will help reduce energy costs.

Why Awoco?

Awoco has quickly grown to be a popular and reliable brand. Compared to other brands, Awoco is very inexpensive yet provides the same, if not better, quality. Products are made with simplicity in mind so they are much easier to install and maintain. Its stylish designs are also a great addition to any environment and the exterior plates can even be removed and painted to match the surrounding environment.

Awoco Air Curtains have several models and sizes to meet many different needs:

Why is there not a heated option?

Air curtains that include a heated air option require much more electricity. Heated air curtains must be hard-wired to an outlet that supplies 30-40A 240V to function properly. This consumes more power than the standard 120V. If a heated air curtain is plugged into a 120V outlet, it will be too weak or it may not work at all. It is usually not recommended to purchase a heated air curtain due to its complex installation and the extra electrical expenses. If the current area is already heated, a standard air curtain will be sufficient in keeping the cold air out.

New Magnetic Switch vs. Roller Plunger Door Switch

In the past, air curtains were activated with the traditional roller plunger door switch. The plunger door switch shuts off the air curtain when the door is pressed against it. When the door opens away from the switch, the plunger will pop back out, turning on the air curtain. Over time, contact with the door can make the switch less effective or cause it to break.

With the new magnetic switch, one magnet is placed on the door frame and another is placed on the door itself. When the door is opened, the magnets are pulled apart which turns the air curtain on. When the door is closed, the magnets are pushed back together and turns off the air curtain. Since the magnets do not need to physically touch, they will not wear down and will last much longer. The magnetic switches are also much smaller than the roller plunger door switch, making it a lot easier to install.
